FALL LEAVES AND TWIGS
I WANT RED, 30" x 38" acrylic
In preparation for my show, “Exploring New Worlds,” I planned a series of larger (for me) abstract paintings. “I Want Red” is one of those. It’s based on a line from my severely handicapped grandson Jamie’s Dynavox, a computerized communications device he used because he could not speak. I often helped him paint, and this is the command he often gave me since I had to fill his brush with paint and put it in his hand. I used Jamie’s initials (JAK) to begin this painting. It is one of my tributes to Jamie, who passed away in 2011.
In addition to my work, Lawrence Street Gallery features twenty-five other member artists as well as a special show each month. www.lawrencestreetgallery.com
